What’s in the Apprenticeship?
Most learning happens on the job, learning from experienced colleagues. There’s some classroom based learning and time to reflect on what they’ve learned.
What’s required from an Apprentice:
Rathbone emphasises employment skills so Apprentices understand they need to be smart, well presented, punctual and to behave in a professional manner to get ahead.
How long does an Apprenticeship last?
People must be able to perform the job to national standards so it depends on how fast someone learns.
If someone left school with no other experience in distribution, they could achieve their Apprenticeship in around 14 months.
What qualifications can be achieved?
- A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Distribution and Warehousing which proves they’re skilled.
Depending on the employer, there might also be the chance to achieve qualifications in subjects like fork lift truck driving.
- Practical work skills in communications, using numbers and ICT.
Apprentices will also be provided with the employment skills to work in the sector and will understand employer rights and responsibilities.
