What we do
Youth Engagement

Rathbone's Youth Engagement team are involved with outreach programmes throughout the country, a new Vodaphone sponsored partnership project in seven locations througout the UK and on volunteering programmes in partnership with v.

Youth Engagement

In partnership with centres and other local services Rathbone tailors our services to meet the needs of young people at different points in their lives, and in recognition that local areas have specific needs. Our Youth Engagement programmes don’t attempt to duplicate other existing training programmes. We focus on engaging and motivating individuals by involving them in activities based on their needs, adopting a youth work style approach.

Rathbone offers Youth Engagement programmes throughout the UK. Participants in the projects live in some of the country’s most disadvantaged areas. They’re often not taking part in any form of education, training or work. Mainstream education has already failed to successfully engage and retain this group, leaving them with a record of non-attendance and low achievement, frequently resulting in anti-social behaviour.

Life Choices

Sponsored by Vodafone and delivered in partnership with YouthNet, Skill and Foyer Federation Life Choices operates in seven locations and for the first time sees Rathbone develop a presence in Northern Ireland. The project supports disengaged young people to re-engage with education, training, and employment combining detached work with web based information.

Volunteering

Rathbone is dedicated to developing its work with young volunteers as we believe that this is another important way in which young people can gain skills, experiences and opportunities to re-engage them into employment or other learning opportunities.

v is a team of youth experts who champion youth volunteering and encourage more organisations to open their doors to young volunteers. v will help young people find the volunteering opportunities they want and recruit a Youth Action team to promote youth-led community action.

v has replaced the Millennium Volunteers programme in England. It is a new charity set up to inspire a new generation of volunteers aged 16-25, putting the youth back into youth volunteering. It's different because it's led by the interests and passions of young people.

Rathbone offers the v project in our Kirklees (Huddersfield), West Bromwich and Walsall centres.
