At Rathbone in Northampton, we help young people to learn in a way that suits them. We’re in the city centre, within walking distance of train and bus stations.

Foundation Learning – for people aged 16 - 18
If you’re not in education or training, enrolling on our Foundation Learning programme can help you find your next step – whether that’s college, employment or an apprenticeship.
You’ll learn about:
- Personal and social development
- Employability
- Work placement
- Functional skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT
You could also take vocational qualifications – building the skills that can help you to get a job or move on to college or an apprenticeship. There are opportunities to volunteer, or get involved in sports, arts or drama. These can help you to build up your CV, meet new people and gain confidence.

Apprenticeships – for people aged 16 - 24
Doing an apprenticeship means you can earn as you learn.
Depending on what level you’re at apprenticeships usually last between 12 and 24 months. You'll work towards a vocational qualification and also get key skills certificates in application of number, communication and ICT.

Directions
Directions is a Youth Engagement programme for 14-18 year olds who are either not attending school nor in education, employment or training and need support to improve their skills to enable them to progress. We offer support in these and other areas:

- Employability e.g. CV building, interview techniques, spec letters, cold calling
- Volunteering activities
- Youth-led projects
- Health and wellbeing
- Money matters
- Leisure and sports activities
