An amendment to the Government’s Technical and Further Education Bill is intended to pave the way for greater career guidance on vocational courses in schools.

A successful move by two former education secretaries to amend the government’s Technical and Further Education Bill last week is being seen a triumph for the further education sector.

The amendment put forward by Lord Baker and Baroness Morris means schools must ensure that a “range of education and training providers” can access pupils aged between 13 and 18, to promote technical education qualifications or apprenticeships.
