A motor vehicle apprentice from Bradford’s drive for success has seen him receive a special award from Rathbone Training at the start of National Apprenticeship Week.
Ahsan Raja, 21, was presented with a Rathbone Training National Apprenticeship Week Learner award for the determination he has shown since he began working as a Level 2 Motor Vehicle apprentice with Royal Garage in Bradford in 2012.
“It’s great for my achievement and hard work to be recognised, I am really made up in receiving this award it means a great deal to me,” said Ahsan.
“I am extremely grateful to Adrian my motor vehicle tutor for his patience, hard work and the endless amount of time he has dedicated to supporting me over the last four years. His experience and subject knowledge has been priceless. The ongoing support and learning I have had has allowed me to reach my full potential and achieve my goal of Level 3 in motor vehicle.
“I didn’t do very well at school but the way I’ve been taught has made the difference, I have gained qualifications in Maths, English and ICT, this has given me a massive confidence boost, I have proven that I can achieve anything moving forward.”
Ahsan overcame issues with confidence to complete his Level 2 qualification and progress to Level 3 which he has recently completed with distinctions, meaning he has gained valuable motor vehicle qualifications that are recognised worldwide. He also has Maths, English and ICT qualifications that are transferable to whatever career path lies in store for him.
“Ahsan has had to start at the bottom and work his way up. He has gained respect from his colleagues through his ability and brought a new dimension to the way in which the garage works by introducing simple processes and displaying customer service that have helped to generate profit and earn a good reputation for the business,” said Adrian Milner, Motor Vehicle Tutor for Rathbone, who nominated Ahsan for the award.
“He has overcome his confidence and personal issues, and built himself into a strong confident person. It has changed his outlook on life and now everything is possible. He is already planning to manage his own business and one day give back to an apprentice his own time and experience. He is inspirational person and a model learner, a true example of success that training can provide you with skills for life.”
