An electronic cigarette and vaping merchandise retailer in Dundee has received a special award from Rathbone Training for its commitment to Modern Apprenticeships.
Vaporized has been awarded with a Rathbone Training National Apprenticeship Week employer award for the enthusiasm and passion they have shown in developing two employees through the Scottish government funded SVQ Programme.
“I have been working with the store’s manager Anne Marie Findlay for over a year delivering SVQ Retail Qualifications as she was very keen for the staff employed at Vaporized to do a Retail Qualification in order to help them gain confidence, knowledge and experience to progress within their job roles,” said Rathbone Training Assessor Gemma Rooney.
Liam Grady, 20, and Sean O’Rourke, 19, are both from Dundee and completed Modern Apprenticeships in Retail Skills Level 2. This involved them being observed carrying out specific tasks within their job roles and completing knowledge and understanding questions to show their competence.
Due to the specialised products Vaporized sells it is highly important that staff members are extremely knowledgeable in order to provide the customers with the correct products, suitable to their needs. Without this knowledge and confidence, it would be difficult to deliver the necessary customer experience needed to make for a successful business.
With Anne Marie’s enthusiastic, supportive nature, and willingness to help develop both Liam and Sean’s confidence and skill set, Vaporized within Dundee has successfully expanded. This has given Liam the opportunity to progress onto an assistant manager position within the existing store, and providing Sean with further responsibilities working across both store locations.
“The Dundee store is full of talented and informative staff that strives to develop superb customer relationships. We work as a team here, and through the help of my staff and other members of the Vaporized team, I feel that the Dundee store will go from strength to strength,” said Anne Marie Findlay.
Gemma presented the award to Anne Marie on Thursday, 9th March.
“I feel that the development opportunities provided within this retailer are inspiring, as Anne Marie has been extremely welcoming to the idea of progressing and motivating staff to succeed within their job role,” said Gemma.
“With this encouragement and support, Anne Marie has gained a team that has built a strong, professional reputation, for providing an excellent customer service. As a result of this success, Vaporized is an excellent example of the benefits of allowing young people to carry out Modern Apprenticeships within their workplace.”
