As the Office for National Statistics releases figures highlighting that productivity for UK workers has fallen back to levels before the 2008 economic downturn…could apprenticeships hold the key to recruiting and developing a motivated and engaged workforce?
Rathbone Training works with over 2000 employers across Britain each year, bringing benefit to business through apprenticeships and work based skills training and 89 per cent of these organisations tell us an apprentice makes the business more productive.
Why is it then that apprentices help to create a more productive workforce? Well here are a few government facts that may go some way to answering this question…
- Over 90 per cent of apprentices currently go into work or further training.
- 36 per cent of higher apprentices report getting a promotion after completing their apprenticeship.
- Higher apprentices could earn £150,000 more on average over their lifetime compared to those with level 3 vocational qualifications.
“Apprentices present a great opportunity for employers to tailor their staff recruitment and development to the specific needs of their business. For the apprentice it is also a chance to progress their career ambitions in a supported environment, learning while they earn,” said Ian Webber, Managing Director of Rathbone Training.
“This is clearly highlighted by over eight in ten of the employers we work with telling us that apprentices provide a skilled workforce for the future and an almost identical number feeding back that taking on apprentices reduces staff turnover.”
Rathbone Training received positive feedback in a recent Ofsted report of its apprenticeship provision and 96 per cent of employers are satisfied with our apprenticeship delivery.
