Marching to Holyrood
Next month, seven young Scots will be trotting off to Parliament to receive Rathbone Achiever of the Year Awards for 2009.
These annual and popular Rathbone gongs salute those who have had made the most progress through learning at any one of our dozen centres in Scotland. They also honour businesses, organisations and individuals who have enabled young people to progress – which is why one company and a highly-respected Rathbone member of staff will end up at the Edinburgh ceremony, too.

Last year, Christina McKelvie MSP (pictured) presented awards to our winners who included a quartet of teenagers from Tayside. Dundee retail student Paula Ewert (pictured) was in receipt of the Get Ready for Work Vocational Award after she impressed judges with her tenacious attitude to work and her caring contribution to her family. Tireless Paula somehow managed to combine a work placement at a major high street store with looking after her granddad and helping the community through voluntary work!
This year’s recipients include Rathbone’s first-ever winners from Hawick and Edinburgh – where staff have recently begun an outreach programme on the capital city’s streets.
Features on each individual winner will appear here, shortly. Meanwhile, April sees the inaugural Rathbone Achievers Awards for Cumbria and the North West plus the Midlands and South West.
