Meet our friends from Redwood
Young people from a special school have been making towering progress thanks to a partnership with Rathbone Rochdale.

Year 10 and 11 students at the Redwood special school have been spending sessions at our Yorkshire Street centre attaining their Working with Others key skills qualification – as a top-up to the formal learning they receive in class. “The relaxed sessions are absolutely ideal for those who have a short attention span or are in need of extra one-to-one-support” said Rathbone Tutor, Dorothy (Dot) Hall.
And it seems that it’s the creative approach that most engages the young people and helps them learn important life skills.
Jeleesa (16) has particularly enjoyed “making stuff” like Christmas and Valentine’s cards which has taught her much about the significance of religious and cultural festivals. Wayne Rooney fan Rebecca (15) also reveled in the artistic angle and has enjoyed putting together a newsletter about her experiences at Rathbone, too.
Vicky Sinfield, Rathbone Centre Manager for Rochdale said: “Our mission is to help every young person to achieve their maximum potential. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the students from Redwood. They really seem to be having fun while they’re with us - but at the same time are absorbing so much.”
