Right place for a great experience

A relation of ex-Daybreak presenter Adrian Chiles has found Rathbone is number ONE when it comes to a work placement.

Bolton based Josh Chiles (15) has spent time on everything from studying the origins of last year’s riots to visiting a drama project in North Manchester as part of his spell with Rathbone’s marketing team.

The Bury Grammar School for Boys pupil has also taken part in our latest survey which fittingly for the relation of a sports broadcaster, has been all about how much exercise young people do!

Josh, who plays on the wing for his school rugby union side but rates soccer as his favourite sport, recognised that many young people sometimes don’t look after themselves as well as they could. But he was shocked at how extreme these problems were for Rathbone learners.

Netballer Hollie Custy who currently studies at Lymm High School in Cheshire has been bagging plenty of experience as she makes her journey into a creative career. Also 15, Hollie has a real flair for languages and like Josh hopes to move on to her school’s Sixth Form College following her GCSEs. Spending her spare time at the Enid Wrigley School of Dance, Hollie has been getting into step with how to do an excellent job interview and met up with supermarket chain TESCOs who used Rathbone’s base in Old Trafford to recruit staff recently.

With the massive growth in social media amongst young people, the duo have been doing their bit to advise Rathbone on what makes a good Facebook page and Twitter account, too.

“Hollie and Josh have made an excellent contribution in a relatively short time and have been casting their youthful eye over some new leaflets and posters we have been producing” said Rathbone spokesperson, Peter Gibson. “It is vitally important that young people get a good taste of the workplace. It is also good for Hollie and Josh who come from such fabulous families and attend excellent schools to learn about other young people who haven’t been as fortunate.”

Josh’s work placement came about thanks to an on-going partnership between Rathbone and Bury Grammar School for Boys. Learn more about the School at http://www.bgsg.bury.sch.uk/.
