What we do

At Rathbone we believe that every young person has the ability to learn, to make progress and to achieve. We believe that participation in learning and the experience of success through learning are fundamental to enabling young people to make an effective transition into adulthood and independence.

Our work is focused on four key target groups and programmes:

  • Young people aged 14-16 who are either wholly or partially excluded from school - through our Youth Choices programmes.

  • Young people aged 16-19 who are not yet ready for work or further study – through our Preparation for Life and Work programmes: Entry to Employment (e2e) in England, Skill Build in Wales and Get Ready for Work in Scotland.

  • Young people aged 16-24 who are ready to embark on training for work – through our Apprenticeship programmes.

  • Young people aged 14-19 who are not in education, training or employment – through our Youth Engagement programme and programmes for young people who have offended.

At Rathbone we believe that to support our learners in the best way we need to support their parents as well. That is why we also have a team of people working on a Parenting project.
