Jim Murphy

Jim Murphy joined Rathbone in January 2008 having spent close-on 20 years with Midlothian Council in a variety of roles.
Jim managed Midlothian Training Services which formed part of the Education and Communities Division of Midlothian Council and helped transform it into a recognised training and learning centre that provided opportunities for everyone from families to school pupils and unemployed adults.
Prior to his role in the Midlothian Council, Jim had a varied career. He started out as an apprentice blacksmith and worked with an assurance company.
Jim recently received The Chartered Management Institute’s Executive Diploma in Management and is a Director with the Scottish Training Federation. He also serves as a board member with the Rural and Urban Training Scheme (RUTS) which teaches mechanics and motorcycle riding to disadvantaged young people.
